  1. Sam Riddell yn dweud:

I saw in concert in Dundee last Friday night. The whole evening was a master class in entertainment. I look forward to seeing you again in Scotland

  2. Thank you for a wonderful concert tonight at Gardyne Theatre in Broughty Ferry. What a glorious sound you have – we enjoyed the programme and would have liked even more! It was so uplifting.

    • Admin yn dweud:

Dear Adam and Hazel, many thanks for your kind comments, glad you enjoyed our concert. We hope to be back in Scotland again pretty soon.

  3. Lee Carter yn dweud:

I heard you all sing for the first time in The Old Market Tavern, Cardiff, the night before Wales played Ireland this weekend just gone. It was an amazing sound and made me so proud to be Welsh. The following day, i was at the match and you were perfect. I even joined in with you in the Angel Hotel after the game and chatted with a few of you.(I was the guy with the miners helmet on and the dragon on top) Being a very proud Welshman from Llangollen, you have inspired me enough to come and listen to your rehearsals and ‘give it a go’….Many thanks once again and hope to see you soon.

    • Admin yn dweud:

      Dear Lee,
So glad you enjoyed your weekend in Cardiff, it is indeed a special place at match time, the lads had a great time. Please come up to Betws-y-coed one Sunday afternoon, anytime from 2.00 p.m. until 4.45. I suggest you check our website for dates, we have a few concerts coming up and the rehearsal schedule may change from the regular fortnightly Sunday afternoons. Next rehearsal is on 29th September but you might be interested in our concert there on Sunday evening October 27th at 7.30. Hwyl Gwyn.

    • Admin yn dweud:

Dear Lee, just loaded the link to photos from Cardiff. Worth a look, I think you are in one or two from the Angel. Gwyn

  4. Jane W yn dweud:

If you are thinking of dropping into a rehearsal DO IT! This was an absolute highlight of our holiday. The power of the choir’s voices in the small hall was absolutely amazing and everybody gave us such a warm welcome. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience!

  5. Polly Wise yn dweud:

Thank you for making us feel so welcome last Sunday when we came and listened to your rehearsal. The amazing sound of your voices is something I will never forget. It was truely a highlight of our holiday.

  6. Morten E. Hansen yn dweud:

Thank you for your brilliant surprise concert at the LC in Llandundo thid Monday for us Norwegians! After spending a very long day lookyat Welsh culture and heritage you gave us all a fantastic example of Welsh music making! Hope to see the choir in Norway one day!

    • Admin yn dweud:

      Thank you Morten,
We enjoyed singing for you at the LC, perhaps sometime in the near future we can sing for you again but this time we would like you to hear the whole choir ( 40+ ) which opens up the opportunity to present a wider repertoire e.g. opera choruses.
      Many thanks again
      Gwyn Jones

  7. Diane Tremper yn dweud:

I visited Wales from the US for the first time in hopes, in part, of hearing a men’s choir rehearse or perform, but was disappointed that I could not locate one. However, at coffee hour after worship at St. Mary’s this May a woman mentioned that “by the way, there’s a men’s choir that rehearses here this afternoon.” And indeed there was! And of such warmth of welcome and such powerful music that I was overwhelmed in tearful jubilation and thanks to God for this providential find. Thank you, men, for all your work and for welcoming visitors like myself who will continue to sing your praises!
And a special thank you to Trevor, who took time to speak to me. Diolch.

  8. Sue and Dave Bray from Devon yn dweud:

Thank you for a great time at rehearsals today 23rd April. We really enjoyed ourselves. Any time you are in Devon we would love to see you for a cup of tea!
Any concerts you can organise in Devon would be great.

  9. Dennis Jones yn dweud:

Diolch o galon am gyngerdd arbennig iawn Nos Fawrth yn y Tabernacle, Machynlleth. Mae ymateb y gynulleidfa wedi bod yn anhygoel, yn eich canmol fel cor ac hefyd wedi mwynhau Meinir Wyn Roberts. Wedi cael sgwrs gyda amryw o fobl, ac hefyd Mr & Mrs Lambert sef perchnogion y Tabernacle, ac heb os dyma y cyngerdd gorau sydd wedi bod yn y Tabernacle ers yr agoriad 30 miynnedd yn ol. 10. Elizabeth Strycker yn dweud:

My husband and I enjoyed the day. Watching how hard you practice gives me a real appreciation for you full performances. This evening s concert in the church was fantastic and was a perfect way to end the day. We feel fortunate to be in this peaceful Wales village and hear the magic you create will practicing and performing beautiful music inside a special little church. We hope to see you again next fall on a return visit to Wales.

    Betsy Strycker

  11. Maria McLean yn dweud:

A huge thank you to you all for the most amazing concert in Valbonne, South of France on 9th October. It was a truly magical evening and the singing at the after show party on the square in the heart of the village was something the residents will never forget. The natives of the South of France are already clamouring for a return visit. A wonderful weekend and a pleasure to make so many new friends.

  12. Sue bray yn dweud:

We thoroughly enjoyed attending a rehearsal in June. Initially we listened inside and then sat outside with the dogs to listen for a little longer.
We are back in April and hope we can either attend a rehearsal or concert. We have booked a week from the *
8TH April 2016 do you have any dates yet?
    Thanks Sue

    • Admin yn dweud:

      Hi Sue,
Thanks for your comments, sorry for the delay in responding. Will pass over 2016 dates to you as soon as they are firmed up. Best wishes from the choir.

  13. Elizabeth Edwards Strycker yn dweud:

I listen to your cd in my car all the time! Missed last year coming over from the U.S. to see you in person. It is one of my greatest joys to be in Betws y Coed and get to hear your choir! We plan our trips so that we can see you in concert or rehearsal. Thanks for bringing so much enjoyment!

    • Admin yn dweud:

      Dear Elizabeth,
Thanks for your comments, hope to see you in Betws y coed very soon.

  14. Hywel yn dweud:

A big thank you for the welcome you gave me and my family at your rehearsal yesterday. We stumbled across you whilst visiting the church and our son Morgan thought all of his Christmas’ had come at once when you invited him in and gave him a seat!!! He has Special Needs and music in particular choral music is his daily inspiration. Role playing with his little ‘Play Mobil’ men everyday – whether they are Cowboys, Pirates, Policemen, Knights they have to attend his choir several times a day!! He has a baton, music stand and borrows his sister’s piano music for the full affect.
Yesterday, he couldn’t wait to get home after watching you rehearse – his choir now taking on a ‘seated configuration’ – vocal warm up exercises in full flow – even following Aled’s example of hitting a new note on the piano in between each warm up set!!
    Truly inspirational – thank you.
We certainly intend to catch up with you again soon – and hope that you will visit us at the Eisteddfod in Llangollen – now that is a week when the little fella is beside himself with excitement!!

    • Admin yn dweud:

      Dear Hywel,
Sorry for the delay in replying. We are so glad that you, and especially Morgan enjoyed our rehearsal back in February. Hope to see you again soon at one of our rehearsals and maybe we can arrange to meet up at Llangollen where we will be competing on Saturday 11th July.

    • Admin yn dweud:

      Dear Hywel,
Just to let you know, following on from our conversations last March, Cantorion have decided that they will not be competing in Llangollen this year. Pity but there we are. Hope you are all well and our best wishes to Morgan, keep singing.

  15. David Evans yn dweud:

My wife Beryl and I attended Knighton on Saturday 15th November (last night) to listen to the Contorion/Colin Jones choir. I was fortunate enough to have sung in the Craven Arms male voice choir 40 years ago and still enjoy listening to male voice choirs fairly regularly. I had not heard of the Contorion but we were certainly not disappointed. The Community Centre in Knighton was a wonderful venue, warm with good aqoustics. The whole evening was so professional, the pianist, the page turner, the conductor, the soloists, the compare (he was magic), and the choir were all top notch and made our evening a “Memory Day”. Also well done to Rebe Brick the organiser.

    • Admin yn dweud:

Thank you David, so glad you enjoyed the concert. If you are ever up in North Wales, you will be most welcome at one of our rehearsals in Betws-y-Coed. Dates are published in this site.

  16. Llanidloes Masons yn dweud:

The choir were fantastic in Llanidloes on the 20th September 2014, with a wonderful compere, Knighton you are getting 2 for the price of one, he is a laugh a minute, or should I say a second.
When deciding on a choir they were our 1st choice.

    • Admin yn dweud:

Thank you for hosting such a great evening. The choir enjoyed their visit to llanidloes immensely.

  17. Julia Morgan yn dweud:

My parents and I have just returned from your brilliant concert in Llanidloes Community Centre. I had come home to Wales for the weekend from Kent and had no idea that such a wonderful treat was in store for me. The concert was fantastic from beginning to end. The choir and soloists were really first class and made me feel so proud to be Welsh.

Most of the time, I had a great big smile on my face (except for “Bring him home” from Les Mis which had me silently in tears). Under the very professional leadership of Aled Wyn Edwards, I believe the choir will continue to go from strength to strength. I was lucky enough to sit in the front row – I hope I am as lucky next time!

  18. HELEN ROGERS-JONES yn dweud:

Thanks to everyone who attended Johns Service at Farndon.Your singing helped me through more than I could ever tell you.

  19. Jim Robertson yn dweud:

You very kindly invited my old friend, who is wheel-chair bound, and me, to join you for your rehearsal in Betwys-y-coed yesterday.
This brief note is to thank you all for your tremendous friendliness and companionship extended to us both ; we enjoyed your practice immensely, and look forward to seeing your next performance in the Church on the 19th October.

    • Admin yn dweud:

Dear Jim, many thanks for your comments, look forward to seeing you again at our rehearsals and especially at our concert in St Mary’s on Sunday 19th October

    • Jim Robertson yn dweud:

Thank you for your kind words.
May I ask when and where your next rehearsal will be, as we’d love to attend.
      Many thanks and best wishes,

  20. John Hughes yn dweud:

A truly brilliant Choir and a brilliant night at Venue Cymru. The best Concert I have ever attended. This Choir is the best in the world !

  21. kathleen gardner yn dweud:

will there be a cd of the concert held at venue cymru Llandudno on 17.11.13.with /rhys Meirion and gwar Edwards. this was an excellent concert.

    • Admin yn dweud:

Unfortunately no professional recording was made of the concert in question although a video and sound files were recorded. Cantorion are hoping to record a new CD in the near future therefore watch this space. Thank you for your kind words of praise, we hope you will come and see us in concert again soon.

  22. Marion Ottmann yn dweud:

On September 29, my friend andI, along with a couple from Nova Scotia, had the privilege of attending your choir practice at St. Mary’s , and it was an afternoon I will never forget. It was, in fact, the HIGHLIGHT of my three week trip to Wales and Ireland. We arranged our holiday around two things: seeing Bryn Terfel perform in an opera in Liverpool, and your choir practice, as we wouldn’t be there for your concert dates. Even though I have listened to CDs of the Treorchy and Morriston choirs for years, there is nothing like being right there and seeing how you practice and put it all together. Beautiful close harmony, timing and diction! You have a fantastic pianist. When you sang The Lords Prayer for us there wasn’t a dry eye on our side of the room, and it was the icing on the cake! I have been humming Mr. Aled Edwards wonderful composition since hearing it and hope it will be on your next CD. When might that CD be released??!
I see you have a concert on Sunday and how I wish I could be there. You are a PREMIER choir and going places under the direction of Mr. Edwards.
A million thank-yours for fulfilling a dream of mine to hear a Welsh choir up close and in person!
All the best to you all and good luck in future endeavors.
    Sincerely, Marion Ottmann

    • Admin yn dweud:

Thank you for your kind words. It’s always nice to rehearse in front of an appreciative audience. Look forward to seeing you again.

  23. Sharon yn dweud:

What a stunning performance by the choir yesterday at the Royal British Legion Gala concert. Absolutely wonderful. Well done to you all.

    • Pat Cowell (mrs) yn dweud:

Hello, I first heard you sing when I was on a walking holiday in Wales and our coach driver played your CD. I so enjoyed it!
Thank you for adding to my holiday..
      Pat (soprano from Buckinghamshire)

  24. Bryn yn dweud:

I left North Wales in 2008 and went to live in South America. In 2012 i came to Australia and during the course of a normal days work I came across a truck driver who had links to the Algieri family in The Llanrwst area.
We spoke several times by phone and the Colin Jones Singers were mentioned. I then went on your web site and was horrified to learn that George Bach had passed away after a long illness.
I had heard of the Colin Jones Singers but had no idea you were North Wales based. It was nice to be home for a moment on your site.

    • Mike Jones yn dweud:

Bryn – nice to hear from you and we’re glad to hear that you enjoy our music. Yes, George Bach very sadly died a few years back and is dearly missed by all of us. His enthusiasm and passion for music was infectious and he’ll always be remembered as one of the choir’s characters. Please keep listening and logging on to our website from time to time to keep updated. Great to hear from you.

    • GarethOliver yn dweud:

Bryn – there is a video of the Llanrwst trio (of which George was a member) on youtube. They are singing “Standing somewhere in the shadows” I’m sure you will enjoy it – George was at the time receiving treatment for his illness.

  25. Beth Jones - Llangollen yn dweud:

Annwyl Pawb, Diolch am gadael i ni eistedd i mewn pan oeddech chi’n ymarfer wythnos diwethaf. Mi wnes i ddod i wrando efo fy ffrind o’r Netherlands, a roedd hi’n brofiad bendigedig iawn, i mi yn enwedig, achos dw i’n hoff iawn côr llais dynion dda! Mae eich ganu yn arbenig iawn, bob lwc yn Iwerddon a gobeithio glywed chi eto yn y dyfodol nid yn rhy bell.
Dear all, Thanks for letting us sit in on your practice last week. I came to listen with a friend from the Netherlands and it was a really wonderful experience, for me especially as I very much love a good male voice choir! Your singing is really special, good luck in Ireland and hopefully hear you again in the not too distant future.

    • Admin yn dweud:

Diolch yn fawr Beth, braf oedd eich gweld yno. Thanks Beth, great to see you there.

    • Admin yn dweud:

It was an excellent concert with an excellent audience. All the best to you and the Scunthorpe Male Voice Choir

  27. Ian Neve yn dweud:

Just wanted to say that I thoroughly enjoyed the performances last night in Scunthorpe. We were all entertained with fantastic singing from the “guys” and a number of great jokes. Well done to all of you, your dedication and beautiful sound has given me the desire to sing more – whilst i could never do “My Way” the way Trebor did I will think of him when ever I hear that song. American Triology has also given me a happy feeling, driving home and listening to the CD has made me feel happy. I look forward to hearing you “live” again in the future.

  28. plindsey yn dweud:

Just heard the choir for the first time at The House in Scunthorpe. Fabulous concert. Hope you return in the not too distant future.

  29. Pauline Potter yn dweud:

Hi there again, I’m back! I just wanted to say that the Auckland Welsh choir had our St David’s day concert today and at the end, when we stood and sung Hen Wlad, my eyes were tearing up. The raw passion I felt surging through my bones, the emotion and feeling I got, I only get with the Welsh National anthem. Pretty awesome considering I’m half Kiwi half Tongan with no Welsh blood in me whatsoever (although like I said previously, I believe I have a Welsh soul!). I hope the Cantorion Colin Jones and the whole of Wales had a great St David’s day. I’m still looking forward to my first one in Wales. I’m not sure when, but it’ll happen! Cymru Am Byth x

  30. WILL Traws Bill Williams yn dweud:

It is a sad day in Ausstraila to day as my father Will Traws has passed away he loved his time with the choir and we have given him the best send off with all his much love Welsh music and he will be sadly miss To be born Welsh is a born privileged not with a silver spoon in your mounth but with music in your blood and poetry in your soul

    • Admin yn dweud:

Best wishes to you and the family from all the members of Cantorion Colin Jones. Our thoughts are with you

  31. leslie lawson yn dweud:

Although a relatively new listener to Cantorion their passion and emotive voices moves both me and my husband to tears – but these are happy tears. We wish you all the success you so deserve and look forward to hearing you when you visit Scunthorpe soon,as we cant wait to shed tears all over again!

  32. Pauline Potter yn dweud:

Hello there, my name is Pauline Potter. I’m a 14 year old Kiwi/Tongan from Auckland, New Zealand. I absolutely LOVE the Welsh. I love everything about Wales, the culture, the language, everything! I’ve been in the Auckland Welsh Choir for a year now, and it’s my dream to live in Wales when I’m older! The Welsh are gorgeous singers and it makes me so proud! I have no Welsh heritage whatsoever, but I feel a strong connection. I love Wales with all my heart, I feel as if I have a pure Welsh soul ♥ I’ll be there someday and I promise to come and watch the Cantorion Colin Jones. I love your choir, I love the music it’s stunning! I love listening to the blissful voices of the men, it’s intriguing and I could listen for hours. Remember me for the future, because I promise I will be there at one of your performances!

    Cymru Am Byth x

    • Admin yn dweud:

  34. Jonathan Lax yn dweud:

I was just surfing the web after a rehearsal with the African American gospel group I sing with, when I chanced upon your soloist’s performance of You Raise Me Up. I am utterly enchanted – I simply must come to Wales to hear you!

  35. Damien McAdams yn dweud:

Congratulation on winning the male voice choir section at the Sligo International Choral Festival at the weekend. More inportant was the friendships developed between the Rosemount Male Voice Choir, Derry N, Ireland and your members. What a brilliant singsong in the bar later in the evening. Looking forward to listening to more of your wonderful music on youtube. We came second to an exceptionally good choir in yourselves. Best wishes to you all for the future and well done!!!

  46. Dan Thompson yn dweud:

I came across the Danny Boy trio via YouTube on this St. Patrick’s Day and was moved to tears. After listening to other choir numbers and viewing your website, I’m now a fan. Thank you so much for the beautiful music.

    to: Welsh Male Voice Choir
Dear Sirs, on U-tube i found your beautiful version of ‘Nessun Dorma”
I’m librarian and tenor in the Veldhovens Mannenkoor (male choir)In Veldhoven , the Netherlands and we are looking for an TTBB arrangent of Nessun Dorma,as we plan an opera highlights concert in november this year.
So far I failed to find any arrangement available at various publishers.
Assuming that yr chorus found an arr. somewhere, could you be so kind to inform us where we can purchase the sheetmusic for this arrangement for male chorus. It would help us a lot and I will be most obliged and greatfull if you can help us out.
    thanks in advance.

PS: if it happended to be an arrangement specially made for your chorus I’m quite willing to pay you the legal fee to allow us to make 70 copies if that’s all right with you.
I very much appreciate if you will let me know something./theo

  52. Cousin Jack yn dweud:

From the Upper Peninsula of Michigan –

Methinks that your Danny Boy is indeed the best.

The singers and the setting and the wonderful harmony add to the simple message. It brings tears every time. Thank you!

  53. Darcie yn dweud:

Oh you sound so lovely! It gave me chills to hear you sing. What a wonderful version of a heartfelt song. Astounding, simply astounding!

  54. shaun chandler yn dweud:

    Danny Boy…. just wonderful….

  55. Ron Stewart yn dweud:

Thank you for this wonderful music. Danny Boy has always been a favorite. Thank you for doing this great song justice.

  56. Susan Baruch yn dweud:

Those last three notes of Danny Boy make my heart sing. Gorgeous.

  57. Deborah yn dweud:

Currently I do not have iTunes, so I will have to wait until you get your on-line store up. I do hope that the trio that is singing in the uTube video will be putting out a solo album of just them with no chorus backing them. Choral music is great, but I tend to like my music vocals made up of no more than four or five persons. I have some hearing loss and choirs tend to blend the notes together causing me to lose the word sounds in the music.

  58. Deborah yn dweud:

Do you have an album yet? if so where can I buy it in the USA?

  59. Gwenno Jones yn dweud:

Wedi mwynhau’r cyngerdd yn y Galeri, Caernarfon yn fawr iawn ! Edrych ymlaen i’ch clywed yn fuan eto a clywed y CD newydd !

  60. Rowena Plant yn dweud:

  61. C a M Parry yn dweud:

Noson ardderchog yn Galeri Nos Sadwrn yng nghwmni’r Cantorion. Cynhesrwydd a chyfoeth tôn y côr yn arbennig. Edrychwn ymlaen yn eiddgar at fwy eto i ddod

  62. Tracey Owens yn dweud:

Wedi bod yn y Galeri yn Gaernarfon neithiwr – nid oedd y cor i gyd yno, ond oeddach dal yn wych!! Noson ddifyr ofnadwy – nid jest y canu ond oedd ‘y stand up comedian’ yn wych hefyd!! Edrych ymlaen i’ch gweld rywle eto yn y dyfodol agos!! Pob lwc i chi gyd xx

  63. Jane Sherman yn dweud:

I also drooled over Danny Boy on Youtube, the only really good performance I’ve ever found.

I came onto this site looking for more. The choir is great but PLEASE PLEASE do something about the recording quality – you aren’t doing yourselves justice. And I do love North Wales.

  64. Sam Beeman yn dweud:

What can I say. We came to see you at Whittington Church last night, the first time to go and listen to a choir and Oh boy we thoroughly enjoyed it. You brought a tear to my eyes also a big smile to my face. Looking forward to seeing you again.

  68. Mark Osborn yn dweud:

Like one of the earlier contacts, I found a link to you via a trio of welsh men singing Danny Boy. It is the best I have ever heard, is the choirs music for sale anywhere?

Greetings. I’m a musician back here in the US and absolutely LOVE your music. I wish you would come here and perform. I was fortunate enough to be traveling about the UK several years ago and spent a few days in Wales. The country is beautiful, the people splendid and the music sublime.

A huge well done for the gentlemen singing this song. Please write me an email and let me know if getting the arrangement is possible. Sincerely, William Sveglini

Gwefan ardderchog. Falch o weld fod ‘Mr Secretary’ yn ennill ei ‘gyflog’. Canu yn ddymunol iawn hefyd, a bron cystal ag amryw i gor lleol arall.

Wedi mwynhau gweld a darllen y wefan newydd. Mae’r safon yn wych, yn union fel canu’r Cantorion! Rwy’n edrych ymlaen at eich gweld yn fuan mewn cyngerdd eto.

    Pob dymuniad da

Whenever we feel we are missing Wales, we play all your music. Favourites are the Trio. We love Danny Boy, and the love songs. I must say that this happens every week.
