  1. While I was searching for Welsh Male Voice concerts in the UK during June 2024, I have just looked up your rehearsal schedule for 2024 and am very excited to see that you have one scheduled for June 16th. I will definitely be there (barring any unforeseen circumstances, of course!). I have lived in Australia since 1981 and will visit Wales on a “pilgrimage” in June 2024 with my two adult daughters. Betws-y-Coed and Capel Curig hold very special memories for me. My father, Nwd, worked in the Post Office right next to St Mary’s church for his whole working life and both my parents’ funerals were held there.
    I can’t wait!!

    1. Good to hear from you John, hope to see you in June, we have a concert in Bodelwyddan on the 8th June. Great if you were able to be there. Details are on the website.

  2. A night to savour at Tywyn Wesleyan chapel tonight. A privilege to listen to beautifully blended voices led by a man of huge talent with accomplished accompaniment. The humour was good too.
    Diolch yn fawr iawn.

    1. Many thanks to you both. The choir thoroughly enjoyed performing to an almost packed house. Hope you can join us again at some future concert.

  3. We saw Cantorion Gogledd Cymru at Betws Y Coed last night. What a wonderful way to spend a chilly Autumn evening!

    1. Hi Leslie, good to meet with you both last night and so glad you enjoyed our concert. Yours and Tony’s comments are so appreciated and they now appear on our website,

  4. After traveling 206 miles, we arrived at the venue site only just in time to see such an amazing array of singers in the Cantorion male voice choir. These wonderful people sang their hearts out for the audience. Some of the songs were very very moving, including Bring Him Home and ‘Welsh Hakka’ and The Welsh Anthem. Individual participants that sang Bendedictus, the duet that sang The Rose, and two wonderful individual giants who sang I’ll Walk with God and Mab Y Mynydd and the final soloist that sang a rousing rendition of Brenin Y Ser.
This show was wonderfully compered in 4 parts by a wonderful giant called Tudur with his usual laughs in between. It was so good that I feel it would be difficult for a Yorkshire Male Voice choir to walk down the same street as Cantorion Gogledd Cymru!
You must go and see them – irrespective of the distance!

  5. Listened to Cantorian Gogledd Cymru in Betws Y Coed last night with rapturous applause and smiling faces for an uplifting performance.
A great way to spend a chilly Autumn evening!

  6. I had the pleasure of accompanying my Father to your concert in Oswestry on Saturday 9 September. I didn’t know that I had heard you sing before at the Wales -v-South Africa rugby match in August. When you sang the African song both in the Principality Stadium and in the Church last Saturday, I joined in ( albeit quietly in the church). The sound the choir made was sublime- truly magnificent. The solo and small group of singers were fantastic, I was awed by their voices. It was a fantastic night, my Dad loved it, and I would recommend anyone that has the opportunity to hear you sing does so- they’re in for a treat.

    1. Thank you Sian, both were special experiences for the choir. Hope you will be able to hear us again soon.

  7. We were travelling with Australian guests and were delighted to attend the rehearsal on 25 June. It was an amazing experience and the boys made us very welcome. The hair on the back of our necks stood up! Gary from Melbourne was blown away by your rendition of You’ll never walk alone which bought tears to our eyes. We live in Cheshire and hope to attend one of your concerts someday.

    1. Thank you Ann, lovely to see you and your friends at our rehearsal, hope you can attend one of our concerts soon ( we are in Oswestry on 9th September). Might see your friends in Australia one day?

  8. Dear Sirs,

I want to thank you for your magnificant concert at the St. Georges Memorial Church at Ypres. You all were amazing.

Please go on and I hope to see you back !

  9. I saw in concert in Dundee last Friday night. The whole evening was a master class in entertainment. I look forward to seeing you again in Scotland

    1. Dear Adam and Hazel, many thanks for your kind comments, glad you enjoyed our concert. We hope to be back in Scotland again pretty soon.

  10. I heard you all sing for the first time in The Old Market Tavern, Cardiff, the night before Wales played Ireland this weekend just gone. It was an amazing sound and made me so proud to be Welsh. The following day, i was at the match and you were perfect. I even joined in with you in the Angel Hotel after the game and chatted with a few of you.(I was the guy with the miners helmet on and the dragon on top) Being a very proud Welshman from Llangollen, you have inspired me enough to come and listen to your rehearsals and ‘give it a go’….Many thanks once again and hope to see you soon.

    1. Dear Lee,
So glad you enjoyed your weekend in Cardiff, it is indeed a special place at match time, the lads had a great time. Please come up to Betws-y-coed one Sunday afternoon, anytime from 2.00 p.m. until 4.45. I suggest you check our website for dates, we have a few concerts coming up and the rehearsal schedule may change from the regular fortnightly Sunday afternoons. Next rehearsal is on 29th September but you might be interested in our concert there on Sunday evening October 27th at 7.30. Hwyl Gwyn.

    2. Dear Lee, just loaded the link to photos from Cardiff. Worth a look, I think you are in one or two from the Angel. Gwyn

  11. If you are thinking of dropping into a rehearsal DO IT! This was an absolute highlight of our holiday. The power of the choir’s voices in the small hall was absolutely amazing and everybody gave us such a warm welcome. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience!

  12. Thank you for making us feel so welcome last Sunday when we came and listened to your rehearsal. The amazing sound of your voices is something I will never forget. It was truely a highlight of our holiday.

  13. Thank you for your brilliant surprise concert at the LC in Llandundo thid Monday for us Norwegians! After spending a very long day lookyat Welsh culture and heritage you gave us all a fantastic example of Welsh music making! Hope to see the choir in Norway one day!

    1. Thank you Morten,
We enjoyed singing for you at the LC, perhaps sometime in the near future we can sing for you again but this time we would like you to hear the whole choir ( 40+ ) which opens up the opportunity to present a wider repertoire e.g. opera choruses.
      Many thanks again
      Gwyn Jones

  14. I visited Wales from the US for the first time in hopes, in part, of hearing a men’s choir rehearse or perform, but was disappointed that I could not locate one. However, at coffee hour after worship at St. Mary’s this May a woman mentioned that “by the way, there’s a men’s choir that rehearses here this afternoon.” And indeed there was! And of such warmth of welcome and such powerful music that I was overwhelmed in tearful jubilation and thanks to God for this providential find. Thank you, men, for all your work and for welcoming visitors like myself who will continue to sing your praises!
And a special thank you to Trevor, who took time to speak to me. Diolch.

  15. Thank you for a great time at rehearsals today 23rd April. We really enjoyed ourselves. Any time you are in Devon we would love to see you for a cup of tea!
Any concerts you can organise in Devon would be great.

  16. My husband and I enjoyed the day. Watching how hard you practice gives me a real appreciation for you full performances. This evening s concert in the church was fantastic and was a perfect way to end the day. We feel fortunate to be in this peaceful Wales village and hear the magic you create will practicing and performing beautiful music inside a special little church. We hope to see you again next fall on a return visit to Wales.

    Sincerely,

    Betsy Strycker

  17. A huge thank you to you all for the most amazing concert in Valbonne, South of France on 9th October. It was a truly magical evening and the singing at the after show party on the square in the heart of the village was something the residents will never forget. The natives of the South of France are already clamouring for a return visit. A wonderful weekend and a pleasure to make so many new friends.

  18. We thoroughly enjoyed attending a rehearsal in June. Initially we listened inside and then sat outside with the dogs to listen for a little longer.
We are back in April and hope we can either attend a rehearsal or concert. We have booked a week from the *
8TH April 2016 do you have any dates yet?
    Thanks Sue

    1. Hi Sue,
Thanks for your comments, sorry for the delay in responding. Will pass over 2016 dates to you as soon as they are firmed up. Best wishes from the choir.

  19. I listen to your cd in my car all the time! Missed last year coming over from the U.S. to see you in person. It is one of my greatest joys to be in Betws y Coed and get to hear your choir! We plan our trips so that we can see you in concert or rehearsal. Thanks for bringing so much enjoyment!

    1. Dear Elizabeth,
Thanks for your comments, hope to see you in Betws y coed very soon.

  20. A big thank you for the welcome you gave me and my family at your rehearsal yesterday. We stumbled across you whilst visiting the church and our son Morgan thought all of his Christmas’ had come at once when you invited him in and gave him a seat!!! He has Special Needs and music in particular choral music is his daily inspiration. Role playing with his little ‘Play Mobil’ men everyday – whether they are Cowboys, Pirates, Policemen, Knights they have to attend his choir several times a day!! He has a baton, music stand and borrows his sister’s piano music for the full affect.
Yesterday, he couldn’t wait to get home after watching you rehearse – his choir now taking on a ‘seated configuration’ – vocal warm up exercises in full flow – even following Aled’s example of hitting a new note on the piano in between each warm up set!!
    Truly inspirational – thank you.
We certainly intend to catch up with you again soon – and hope that you will visit us at the Eisteddfod in Llangollen – now that is a week when the little fella is beside himself with excitement!!

    1. Dear Hywel,
Sorry for the delay in replying. We are so glad that you, and especially Morgan enjoyed our rehearsal back in February. Hope to see you again soon at one of our rehearsals and maybe we can arrange to meet up at Llangollen where we will be competing on Saturday 11th July.

    2. Dear Hywel,
Just to let you know, following on from our conversations last March, Cantorion have decided that they will not be competing in Llangollen this year. Pity but there we are. Hope you are all well and our best wishes to Morgan, keep singing.

  21. My wife Beryl and I attended Knighton on Saturday 15th November (last night) to listen to the Contorion/Colin Jones choir. I was fortunate enough to have sung in the Craven Arms male voice choir 40 years ago and still enjoy listening to male voice choirs fairly regularly. I had not heard of the Contorion but we were certainly not disappointed. The Community Centre in Knighton was a wonderful venue, warm with good aqoustics. The whole evening was so professional, the pianist, the page turner, the conductor, the soloists, the compare (he was magic), and the choir were all top notch and made our evening a “Memory Day”. Also well done to Rebe Brick the organiser.

    1. Thank you David, so glad you enjoyed the concert. If you are ever up in North Wales, you will be most welcome at one of our rehearsals in Betws-y-Coed. Dates are published in this site.

  22. The choir were fantastic in Llanidloes on the 20th September 2014, with a wonderful compere, Knighton you are getting 2 for the price of one, he is a laugh a minute, or should I say a second.
When deciding on a choir they were our 1st choice.

    1. Thank you for hosting such a great evening. The choir enjoyed their visit to llanidloes immensely.

  23. My parents and I have just returned from your brilliant concert in Llanidloes Community Centre. I had come home to Wales for the weekend from Kent and had no idea that such a wonderful treat was in store for me. The concert was fantastic from beginning to end. The choir and soloists were really first class and made me feel so proud to be Welsh.

Most of the time, I had a great big smile on my face (except for “Bring him home” from Les Mis which had me silently in tears). Under the very professional leadership of Aled Wyn Edwards, I believe the choir will continue to go from strength to strength. I was lucky enough to sit in the front row – I hope I am as lucky next time!

  24. Thanks to everyone who attended Johns Service at Farndon.Your singing helped me through more than I could ever tell you.

  25. You very kindly invited my old friend, who is wheel-chair bound, and me, to join you for your rehearsal in Betwys-y-coed yesterday.
This brief note is to thank you all for your tremendous friendliness and companionship extended to us both ; we enjoyed your practice immensely, and look forward to seeing your next performance in the Church on the 19th October.

    1. Dear Jim, many thanks for your comments, look forward to seeing you again at our rehearsals and especially at our concert in St Mary’s on Sunday 19th October

    2. Thank you for your kind words.
May I ask when and where your next rehearsal will be, as we’d love to attend.
      Many thanks and best wishes,
      Jim

  26. A truly brilliant Choir and a brilliant night at Venue Cymru. The best Concert I have ever attended. This Choir is the best in the world !

  27. will there be a cd of the concert held at venue cymru Llandudno on 17.11.13.with /rhys Meirion and gwar Edwards. this was an excellent concert.

    1. Unfortunately no professional recording was made of the concert in question although a video and sound files were recorded. Cantorion are hoping to record a new CD in the near future therefore watch this space. Thank you for your kind words of praise, we hope you will come and see us in concert again soon.

  28. On September 29, my friend andI, along with a couple from Nova Scotia, had the privilege of attending your choir practice at St. Mary’s , and it was an afternoon I will never forget. It was, in fact, the HIGHLIGHT of my three week trip to Wales and Ireland. We arranged our holiday around two things: seeing Bryn Terfel perform in an opera in Liverpool, and your choir practice, as we wouldn’t be there for your concert dates. Even though I have listened to CDs of the Treorchy and Morriston choirs for years, there is nothing like being right there and seeing how you practice and put it all together. Beautiful close harmony, timing and diction! You have a fantastic pianist. When you sang The Lords Prayer for us there wasn’t a dry eye on our side of the room, and it was the icing on the cake! I have been humming Mr. Aled Edwards wonderful composition since hearing it and hope it will be on your next CD. When might that CD be released??!
I see you have a concert on Sunday and how I wish I could be there. You are a PREMIER choir and going places under the direction of Mr. Edwards.
A million thank-yours for fulfilling a dream of mine to hear a Welsh choir up close and in person!
All the best to you all and good luck in future endeavors.
    Sincerely, Marion Ottmann

    1. Thank you for your kind words. It’s always nice to rehearse in front of an appreciative audience. Look forward to seeing you again.

    1. Hello, I first heard you sing when I was on a walking holiday in Wales and our coach driver played your CD. I so enjoyed it!
Thank you for adding to my holiday..
      Pat (soprano from Buckinghamshire)
